Getting Started with Safeguarding

This free online course is intended to help voluntary and community organisations to understand their safeguarding responsibilities and how to fulfil them. It is also suitable for new managers or charity trustees who are new to safeguarding and need to set up safeguarding processes and procedures.
Relevant to all voluntary and community organisations in Bradford district whether or not they specialise in working with children or vulnerable adults.
This course is about what organisations need to consider in terms of safeguarding. It will cover:
- Why safeguarding is important
- Understanding and managing the risks
- Policies and procedures
- Making safeguarding a priority
- Supporting your staff and volunteers
- Handling and reporting concerns
- Your culture and values
This course is not intended as an induction course/refresher training for new or existing staff/volunteers, as a course to raise awareness of the signs of abuse and neglect, nor is it intended as Designated Safeguarding Officer training, although it may be useful as a first step for someone considering taking on that role.
Suitable for beginners, no prior knowledge needed but you do need to be part of a voluntary or community organisation in Bradford district.
