Please note that this free training course is exclusively available to community groups based in West Yorkshire. This includes tenants’ and residents’ associations, registered charities and social enterprises.
This is a FREE 3-hour course held online, with a maximum of 4 participants. WYCAS will email a Zoom or Teams link a few days before the event. This is an interactive session, so microphones and cameras will be on throughout.
Course content
Learn how to set up a basic bookkeeping system that allows you to easily record income and expenditure, as well as report on restricted and unrestricted funds.
- Set up the spreadsheet
- Enter transactions, with categories for income and expenditure, restricted funds, and bank and cash accounts
- Reconcile the bank balance to bank statements
- Produce finance reports for in-year reporting
The course will guide you through using the WYCAS cashbook (available for free download) that provides a simple, effective system for small charitable organisations and social enterprises.

- Access to a computer with Excel software
- Basic ability to use a spreadsheet
