Course content: Protect your Data

As more organisations move online, protecting the data you hold has never been more important – this can feel complicated or intimidating but it doesn’t have to be.

What we will cover:

• Understanding the legal principles – the General Data Protection Regulations and Data Protection Act
• Putting the right policies in place, what makes this effective and how to ensure it works in practice
• Understanding what to do if a breach occurs, including the steps to take and how to minimise risk
• Further guidance and support to keep your organisation compliant and secure

This interactive, practical session is designed to help you keep personal data safe and respond confidently if something goes wrong. Leave feeling informed, reassured and confident in managing your organisation’s data.

In-house option: if you would like to train several members of your team, you can arrange in-house training just for your organisation and it will be tailored to your current position.

This is perfect for: any volunteer or employee handling personal data, especially those that are responsible for managing, coordinating or reporting on that data. Also suitable for trustees seeking reassurance that their organisation is meeting its responsibilities.

Who can book?

Getting Started courses are exclusively for trustees, staff and volunteers from voluntary and community sector organisations in Bradford district. This includes; charities, community interest companies limited by guarantee, faith groups, sports clubs, and other not-for-profit groups with a constitution.

Not part of a voluntary sector organisation? Not in Bradford district? Sorry, this course is not for you.

Will I get a booking confirmation?

What about the Zoom link?

Two days before the course everyone who books will get another email with the Zoom meeting details. We will also send an email reminder on the day. Remember to check your junk mail folder. We do not publish the Zoom link on the website. You must book a place to get the link.
