Course content

Taking on the role of Designated Safeguarding Officer (DSO) or Safeguarding Lead (DSL) can feel like a big step, but with the right guidance, it can become a role you carry with confidence.

What we will cover:

  • Understanding what the Safeguarding Lead role involves, and key responsibilities
  • Learning how to support your board to stay informed, engaged and confident in their safeguarding duties
  • Understanding what makes a safeguarding policy effective and how to ensure it reflects your organisation’s work
  • Turning procedures into practice that is consistent and robust
  • Making sure staff and volunteers are appropriately trained, building a culture of safeguarding awareness
  • Dealing with disclosures or concerns appropriately and confidentially

This course will focus on what you actually need to put in place to safeguard effectively, without overcomplicating things – helping you to feel prepared, not overwhelmed.

This course is perfect for: current or newly-appointed Safeguarding Leads. Also suitable for those working directly with vulnerable children and adults that want to step up their safeguarding knowledge.

Please note: this course is not accredited but a certificate of attendance will be given.

Who can book?

Half-day courses are exclusively for trustees, staff and volunteers from voluntary and community sector organisations working in Bradford district.

This includes; charities, community interest companies limited by guarantee, faith groups, sports clubs, and other not-for-profit groups with a constitution.

Not part of a voluntary sector organisation? Not working in Bradford district? Sorry, this course is not for you.

Will I get a booking confirmation?

What about the Zoom link?
