Getting Started – Set up a New Group (online)

Cost- Free if your voluntary sector organisation’s annual income is up to £100,000.
- If your voluntary sector organisation’s annual income is £100,001 and above, the charge is £20 per person (non-refundable course fee). Before booking – read the cancellation policy and get permission to pay for the course.

Course content: Set up a New Group
Have you got an idea to make a difference in your community? This course will help you to turn that idea into a well-run and sustainable group.
What we will cover:
- Creating your constitution (set of rules) – what it is, why it matters and how to put it together
- Opening a bank account in the name of your group – the banks available and what you will need
- Where to get help with managing money and accessing funding opportunities
- Putting basic policies in place to operate safely and effectively
- Building local connections with other groups in the area, geographically or thematically
- Where to find further support and resources
Whether you’re at the ideas stage or a few steps in, you will get clarity on what is needed and where to begin. Make the process feel achievable, not overwhelming.
This course is perfect for: individuals or small groups with a new idea for a voluntary or community project, newly formed groups wanting to solidify your foundations, or anybody unsure where to start.
Who can book?
Getting Started courses are exclusively for trustees, staff and volunteers from voluntary and community sector organisations in Bradford district. This includes; charities, community interest companies limited by guarantee, faith groups, sports clubs, and other not-for-profit groups with a constitution.
Not part of a voluntary sector organisation? Not in Bradford district? Sorry, this course is not for you.
Will I get a booking confirmation?
Yes, you will get an automated email confirming your booking. Remember to check your junk mail folder. If you use more than one email, remember to check the mailbox for the email address you registered with.
What about the Zoom link?
Two days before the course everyone who books will get another email with the Zoom meeting details. We will also send an email reminder on the day. Remember to check your junk mail folder. We do not publish the Zoom link on the website. You must book a place to get the link.
