Course content

For trustees and staff with some fundraising experience who are working on grant applications or contract bids for staff salaries. We will discuss:

  • What funders want to fund when you ask for salary costs.
  • Making the case. Outcomes and impact of the staff post and why it matters.
  • Grant funders to consider, who funds what, how to apply and where to search for more options.
  • Contract opportunities, top tips for bidding for contracts and where to search for contract opportunities.
  • Planning ahead and timescales.
  • Budgeting for on-costs – what you need to include.
  • Practical HR considerations and where to get advice/ information on what to do if plan A doesn’t work.

This course is perfect for: People with some fundraising experience at an organisation that has been running activities for at least 12 months and is looking to raise money for salaries rather than consultants or sessional workers.

If you’re already a very experienced member of staff, why not recommend this course to a trustee or colleague with less experience to help improve fundraising knowledge across the organisation?

No fundraising experience at all? The Beginners’ Guide to fundraising is a better option and will answer lots of your questions.

This course is not suitable for: New organisations that do not have a full year of activity and accounts yet.
