Cost

  • Free if your voluntary sector organisation’s annual income is up to £100,000.
  • If your voluntary sector organisation’s annual income is £100,001 and above, the charge is £20 per person (non-refundable course fee). Before booking – read the cancellation policy and get permission to pay for the course

Course content: Role of trustees

Step into your role with confidence! Whether you are new to being a trustee, or are looking to refresh your skills, this interactive course is designed to give you clarity, confidence and practical insight into trusteeship and doing it well.

What we will cover:

  • Key guidelines and advice for both individual trustees, and the board as a whole
  • Understanding your organisation’s legal structure – get to grips with how your organisation is set up
  • Handling conflicts with confidence – learn how to spot conflicts of interest early and deal with them professionally
  • Making strong, informed and balanced decisions jointly
  • Meeting reporting – understand what needs to be reported, when and how to maintain compliance
  • When and where to seek more help and advice – there is no need to navigate challenges alone

Because this is an open course, you’ll benefit from hearing different perspectives and experiences from trustees across a range of organisations. Log off feeling informed, empowered and ready to make an impact.

In-house option: if you would like to train your whole trustee board, you can arrange in-house training just for your organisation and it will be tailored to your governing document.

This course is perfect for: new, existing or prospective trustees (sometimes known as board members, management committee members, governors or directors) of voluntary, community or social enterprise sector organisations.

Who can book?

This course is exclusively for trustees, staff and volunteers from voluntary and community sector organisations in Bradford district.

This includes; charities, community interest companies limited by guarantee, faith groups, sports clubs, and other not-for-profit groups with a constitution.

Not part of a voluntary sector organisation? Not in Bradford district? Sorry, this course is not for you.

    Will I get a booking confirmation?

    What about the Zoom link?

    Two days before the course everyone who books will get another email with the Zoom meeting details. We will also send an email reminder on the day. Remember to check your junk mail folder. We do not publish the Zoom link on the website. You must book a place to get the link.
