About Same Skies
Prioritising relational work with and between organisations and people of West Yorkshire, Same Skies Think Tank convenes conversations and develops projects to enhance social and civic engagement and amplify voices across the region.
Our aim is to create pathways where community members are able to engage more organically with local power structures. We do this by encompassing spaces removed from the rigidity and historical connotations of hierarchical frameworks. Instead, we facilitate engagement in places that engender commonality–parks, museums, market halls…and yes, the virtual world.
It is our belief that taking the effort to convene in a cooperative space, at the right place, helps to decentralise power and permission, giving way to participation and productivity.
About the co-founders
Dr Tiffany R. Holloman, FRSA is the project manager for Brad-ATTAIN and YCEDE in the Centre for Inclusion and Diversity at the University of Bradford. She is co-founder and co-director of Same Skies Think Tank in West Yorkshire. Her think tank allows her to work within the public sector, for example, universities and councils. Whilst academically, she’s manoeuvre from lecturer to professional services.
She is the author of several articles, chapters, as well as a co-editor of two books. Her activism stems from a desire to work with community members in the elevation of human development.
She is also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
Andrew Wilson experiments with structures to facilitate cooperation between people with different kinds of knowledge, and he has been one of the co-founders and main organisers of para-lab (Manchester, 2017-) and Superposition (Leeds, 2013-2017), both collectives of artists and scientists; The Making Space, a cooperatively run shared workspace in Huddersfield (2013-); Same Skies (West Yorkshire, 2015-) the citizen-led regional democracy network and think tank for West Yorkshire.
In the decade from 2000 Andrew developed platforms for creative and socially valuable uses of mobile technology, with a focus on collaborative participation and tools for grassroots coordination.
In 2019 he was the founding director when Same Skies became a think tank, and is currently co-director.
He works part-time as a support worker for people with learning disabilities. https://studiofor.co/ https://www.instagram.com/wilandrewson/
